Bouse
|
Camp
Bouse was a secret army base commanded by General George
Patton. The base was built during WW II to train men to
use a "new" tank, designed for night warefare.
20 miles east of Bouse, in the remote Butler Valley, is
Camp Bouse. Camp Bouse memorial monuments are located
on Hwy 72, across from the A & C Mercantile Co, in Bouse.

| The
Saguaro Cactus is found only in Southwest U.S. and Mexico.
The one just west of Quartzsite is unusally large, as
it has 47 arms. They are known to begin growing "arms"
after age 75, so this specimen is between 150 and 200
years old! |

Fisherman
Intaglio
|
The
fisherman is an intaglio (geoglyph or earth figure), a
large figure created in the soil by Indians many years
ago. Visit the site of this protected giant on Plomosa
Road near Bouse where you will also find an interpretive
sign and bronze plaque set in a stone pillar. Special
recognition has been given to Con & Dawn Bergland by the
Bureau of Land Management as "Friends of the Fisherman"
|
Earth Figure Complex: Just south of town there is a group
of 14 intaglios (Earth Figures of Geoglyphs), one of which
is a large arrow. Maybe coincidence, maybe not, the arrow
points directly at the Fisherman Intaglio N.W. of town.
